A wise women puts a grain of sugar into everything she says to a man, and takes a grain of salt with everything he says to her.
-Helen Rowland

This aphorism seems to be from a feminist standpoint, demonstrating the difference between women and men in how they treat each other. When a woman puts a grain of sugar into a man, that shows women’s general warm-heartedness and affectionate characteristics. Whereas, in the second part of the aphorism, it says that the woman takes a grain of salt from what the man said. This explains how men can be bitter, upsetting, and more cold-hearted.

When the rich make war, it’s the poor that die.
Jean Paul Sartre
The aphorist Jean Paul Sartre is a person from the French Revolution and during the times of constant war in the past. The French Revolution, specifically, was led by the Bourgeoisie, the middle class, and this was due to the unfair taxation imposed by the first estate of the French society. This means that the poor, or people in society who did not have a strong voice were affected the most when it came to war. Indeed, the French Revolution ended with the poor suffering the most out of everyone. This scenario not only happened in the French Revolution, but the American, the Haiti, and many more. Even until now, we can see the unbalanced advantages that the rich gains from a war or conflict than the poor.

If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.
-Mark Twains
This aphorism means that if people lie, they will have the guilt and shame to bear with. If people start lying, they have lies that accumulate and they are really hard to forget without confessing the truth.
